All good things come to an end unfortunately and so did our beautiful trip.

We made our way back to Jakarta, where we had planned to leave for Kuala Lumpur, our hub for the trip. We had already indulged in a full tour of Jakarta upon our arrival in Indonesia and decided we had seen enough of this sprawling city. So we opted for a very relaxing afternoon/evening and spent our last night in Indonesia in a luxury hotel where we ordered room service and wine which we enjoyed whilst watching hours of cable TV. It is amazing how much one can miss these things while travelling! We barely left the hotel room at all actually during our overnight stay in Jakarta, and boarded a plane the next morning for Kuala Lumpur. Here we were a bit more adventurous, and walked through Bukit Bintang, one of the main roads, and smaller streets before heading for a nice dinner and drinks within the animated area of Heritage Row. The next day we visited the Petronas Towers, KL’s most famous symbol, and after more strolling around, lingered for a few hours in the very impressive shopping malls Kuala Lumpur has to offer before catching our flight to Paris. 12 hours later we landed in Paris at 6h40 in the morning. It was grey and raining, faithful to its reputation, and when we entered the metro, we were not exactly happy to be back amongst the even less happier Parisians. Luckily, this was not our final stop!!!
Having anticipated our difficult return, we had planned to head in the South of France, in Hyères, our family holiday house, a beautiful haven, that would make a perfect transition. Surrounded by sea, sun and windsurfers, we slowly rehabilitated to the European lifestyle, helped by drinking large amounts of rosé de provence and eating delicious meals prepared by Mom. Having almost fully recovered, we took a train back to Paris and hopped on a van to Amsterdam, containing all the possessions I would be “needing” there.
The end?

No not yet … I plan on updating you with my first impressions on Amsterdam, after all I am still quite the tourist here. That way you will know what to expect if you come over and visit. And also, we still plan on travelling quite a bit, be it for a long weekend or a few weeks (or months?), so we’ll definitely keep you updated on our travels. Watch this space! So long for now and many warm thanks to those who have followed us around a small part of the world and contributed by posting comments/sending emails!
